I agree with you, but I don't think he said metal plate. In fact he referenced the cop that testified that he went back to his squad car to get his metal plate inserts.

The biggest negative with him is that his voice is shaking, and every time he takes a sip of water, his hands are shaking.
He also seems to lose his point in the middle of the sentence, and has to stop and pause. It just makes him look uncomfortable and jumpy as opposed to concise.
Hopefully, the jury is so disgusted with the prosecutions lying and weak case, this guys shaky voice won't ruin the verdict, lol.
