I saw that this morning, does not sound legit to me, I can not see the FBI telling the family something like that, I think it is a hoax to bring some attention to a cold case by the family

Paul Flores, the guy that walked her to her dorm, killed her. It's glaringly obvious, but there's no evidence.

Dude had an unexplained black eye the next day. Supposedly, her bloody earring was found at his mom's former residence. Cadaver dogs got a hit in his apartment, and 4 more girls came forward to accuse him of sexual assault. How he never went down for that is bewildering.

Well I certainly am now. What would make the FBI want to tell the mom to go away for a while? That makes it sound like there's some sort of enormous bombshell of a development like she's been found alive living as Taylor Swift or some weird shite like that.

Why would the FBI tease the parents like that. They would just tell them. Not say that they have a juicy secret but you’re going to have to wait.

Not to sound insensitive, but she's been missing for 24 years. Unless you're about to tell the family that she's alive, you probably are not telling them something they don't already know or suspect.

Case could be linked to a current ongoing investigation or maybe they're close on a suspect in this case and trying to draw him out by making him think they have the evidence. But even then they wouldn't saying anything to the parents. Sounds like a buncha bs.

Seems odd for the FBI to say something like that. If true, makes me think she was found alive somewhere.

Why say this unless they were in some kind of danger? And if they are, it makes no sense to make that statement publicly. Makes about as much sense as holding a press conference to let everyone know that they are placing a person in the witness protection plan. Sounds like a desperate ploy to get people talking.

That said, if they have explosive news, then why the need to lure people into talking?

Yea, I'm thinking this too. And it also has to be tied to another investigation as someone else said.

Right. I am skeptical about what the family thought they heard the FBI say.

That's wild.

I can't imagine being her parents and basically knowing he did it and not being able to do anything.

If I was her dad, I'd probably kidnap and torture him to get answers then kill him.

I mean it is the FBI we’re talking about here. They’re a pretty shitty organization. I wouldn’t put it passed them. Look at the things they’ve done in the last 3-4 years.

Kristin Smart ran away, had a sex change operation, and changed her name to Kirby. She's now the head football coach for The University of Georgia.
