If you would have read it you'd know the krewe wasn't contacted. It was posted on reddit and someone within the organization saw it.

Crying about it on Reddit doesn’t make them any less of a pussy

Agreed!
I’m working in Missouri at the moment and a day before this thread was started, I had a guy tell me here that he recently had a black man explain the confederate flag and he admitted he was ignorant to the fact the flag doesn’t represent racism. So sad we have more than half the nation being taught otherwise.

apparently you didn't comprehend that since then, meaning after, people started telling people to be offended by everything...the beginning of my post was important

Ultimately there are rules for these things and I’m not sure the Krewe had much choice in not booting folks if they want to continue to receive permits (not to mention peer pressure from bands, marching krewes etc….)

Ultimately, I don’t think a bead is the end of the world but parading on st Charles is an inclusive experience and family affair for a variety of backgrounds. Plenty of cool stuff out there to throw. Even if you are dyed in the wool confederate supporting - just no real reason to go there

12 year Orpheus rider here ~ we threw black king cake baby beads.
The crowd begged us for them, some even us beer and money!

No racist intent...we just thought they were cute as well.
I don't think anyone from South Louisiana, surely not NOLA, is offended by mush as Mardi Gras. It's always those damn tourists.

people should be told/taught what they should be offended by? i grew up watching the dukes of hazard and never saw the confederate flag and thought "hell yeh that's racist". it is a pretty cool looking flag. Robert E Lee statue was cool. When will the george floyd get taken down...while I am not offended by it it is pretty stupid to dedicate a statue to a POS

The Krewes are given a list of what can't be thrown.
The one that always confused me was....NO LIVE ANIMALS.
Which makes me believe they had that rule....because some fool had don't it before.

I'm already put it in my orders to have beads made for the ride next year.

Beads with a white devil on them

Beads that say Phase Ta-Two

Beads with a box of tissue on them

Beads with a pack of crackers on them

A bacchus float with a float lt who didn’t get along with the mayor threw live chickens at Gallier Hall. Or that’s the story I’ve been told.

If the good people of the south had told the Klan, in the 1950s, that the flag was a symbol of southern heritage and did not belong to the idiots in sheets it would not be seen as a symbol of racism today. The problem is that the good people of the south liked the idea of the Klan using the flag as a symbol of the Klan if not white supremacy (I don't know how you separate the Klan from white supremacy but I am certain some of y'all will). In reality the good people of the south liked (and many still like) the idea of the Klan. When the morons in sheets started using the flag as part of their costume and no one mentioned its being a tribute to southern heritage the die was cast and the good people of the south secretly were fine with it being cast.

It wasn't about white supremacy on the Dukes of Hazard, the penultimate argument against the comply or die crowd by the way. It was about rebellion. Richie Cunningham had a confederate flag on his bedroom wall in Happy Days, a show created by Garry Marshall, not exactly known for his white supremacy views. It wasn't about racism in Happy Days either, it was about rebelling. Confederate flags are common today at European soccer games. Not about racism, about rebelling against authority. When we, the good people of the south, stood idly by and allowed the KKK to use the flag as a symbol of their sick and twisted worldview we gave up any right to label the flag anything other than a symbol of the KKK. The problem is that many of us good southerners liked the idea of the KKK using the flag as a symbol of their idiocy....almost no one ever said boo about it

So you think public schools are for breeding pussies?

Oh wait, I shouldn't be surprised you do.
