Planters paused its Super Bowl campaign centered around the fictitious Mr. Peanut’s death following the deaths of Kobe Bryant

quote:

“We are saddened by this weekend’s news and Planters has paused all campaign activities, including paid media, and will evaluate next steps through a lens of sensitivity to those impacted by this tragedy,” the brand said in a statement Monday.

quote:

Planters killed off its Mr. Peanut spokesnut in a pregame ad, “Road Trip,” that first appeared online on Jan. 21. In the 30-second spot, Mr. Peanut was ejected from his Nutmobile along with actors Wesley Snipes and Matt Walsh, then let go of the branch the three were hanging onto, plummeting to the ground and exploding, along with his vehicle.

I’m so confused...

Did Kobe like peanuts? Or have anything to do with planters or Mr. Peanut?

This is like trying to connect John Lennon getting shot to T-Shirts made of linen being shot out of cannons.

I feel like I'm the only person on Earth that doesn't feel saddened about Kobes death.
Is it sad, yes but tradegies happen every day.

It is important to feel what the media tells you to feel

It’s some shite, ain’t it? Some random yahoos on twitter make some cockamamie connection between a recent tragedy and an ad campaign that’s been in the works for months, with zero connection to the tragedy, and all of a sudden the world is supposed to stop?

I hate the nba. dont watch it. dont care about kobe at all.

is it a tragedy? absolutely.

what are the names of the other three that died (without googling)?

why does some dude that played basketball get so much attention?

to be fair, I have this opinion about all celebrities. their life is just as important as yours or mine.

so he lived a glorious life, more reason to care less than I already do

I know you are joking, but I dont rate human life based on someone's income. i base it on what kind of person they are

Then maybe do the slightest bit of research into what he was doing with his life and the countless number of people he had already had an impact on and the many more he would have going forward.

It's really not hard to see why so many care about his death.

Did these same people weep when a soldier is killed? Not likely because the soldier cant hit a turn around jumper from 18 feet.

Hate to break this to you, but Kobe's life had a far bigger impact on the world than a random soldier.
