What surgery?

ACL repair? Meniscus repair? Replacement?

I had both knees replaced last fall.
I slept in the recliner the first week. Much more comfortable for me.
Good luck. Having mine replaced was the best thing I ever did.

Dr. John Marshall Whatley at BROC did mine...I had no issues at all.

My wife (no pictures) had a full replacement summer of 2023. She slept in the bed. Found it more comfortable and the bed was closer to the bathroom.

A bit of advice........ Look into purchasing the ice chest type device that circulates ice cold water thru a knee sleeve. You can purchase them at 'local' drug stores and on Amazon. They are the bomb for reducing pain.

Prayers sent for your recovery & healing.

Not impossible, but it's rough. You'll hate yourself and have second thoughts on why you did both. First two weeks suck, just have to suck it up. Take the pain meds and plow through it, after two weeks you'll be glad you did both,

As far as sleeping in bed, it seems impossible to get comfortable, taking the pain meds will help.

Good luck... Any more questions just ask.

Lance Estrada did mine at Touro.

my paw paw had replacements and i think he slept in the recliner for a few weeks after. they got a new one right around that time, so i guess they went shopping in anticipation of it.

Expect it to be one year for a full recovery for a total knee replacement . Don't ever do both knees at the same time.

Dude. I hung out in a hospital room then after the next surgery got put on NCAA medical hardship.

Knee surgery is a cake compared to colon surgery.

Depends on what is being done.

I had patella femoral issues.
Cleaned it up arthroscopically.

Recovery took a while.

Regardless, do knees over toes protocol for knee health.
It's on point. I've been athlete whole life, college scholarship etc.
Knees over toes truly gave me my athletic life back.

Sorry to hear that. My grandmother was 85 and had both replaced. She was down for six months.

Not a knee, but I did have hip replacement surgery. Slept in a very comfortable lift chair for the first 20 days, or so. Then back to my Tempur-Pedic…

the first colon surgery was just some polyps they could not reach with a scope. The second on was cancer, actually in small intestines

I slept In my bed with a walker nearby to walk to the bathroom after knee replacement surgery. Didn’t use assistance from any family members. Best recovery advice, do all the physical therapy exercises asked of you religiously. You will recover faster and have more range of motion.
