Miserable? Have you been to The Woodlands, which is Kingwood on steroids.

Traffic in the woodlands is as bad as any major city during rush hour. I worked in the woodlands for a year and the traffic was crazy bad all day, every day.

Sorry, just my opinion based on what I personally observed. I lived in Kingwood in the early nineties, and I can say without hesitation Kingwood is NOT the place it was then. I mean it's still nice with the walking/bike trails, lush greenery and all, but it's changing....and not for the better. I mean I wouldn't go walking after dark on those walking lanes today like I did when I lived there? Absolutely not. Remember this. Kingwood is a Houston suburb and a democrat mayor and city council will not hesitate to fudge crime statistics.
I said the decline was occurring slowly, but happening none-the-less. Definitely the decline started after the annex. This is classic democrat mode of operation. A shrinking tax revenue in the inner city, while the democrat controlled city spends money like a drunken sailor. The solution? Reach out and annex a nearby rich Aryan Nation and its upper middle class to nouveau riche property owners. It's just the way democrats are....tax and spend.
Go west young man ...... to The Woodlands!

Has increased but you are blowing it way out of proportion. As a licensed engineer specializing in traffic ops, it actually operates very well considering the intense growth.

Raising Cane’s in the woodlands was held up 3 times in 2017 alone. Lots of peripheral trash and low income areas that gravitate to the mall and surrounding retail stores.

Okay, maybe. But Kingwood is not immune to crime either. Personally I know of a friend who lived in Kingwood. Two of his sons (great boys) were brutally beaten while playing a game of one-on-one basketball on his driveway. Thugs got out of a car and just beat the heck out of those boys. Random violence. Apparently it was gang related.....some kind of gang initiation. Needless to say my friend moved out of Kingwood.
Or how about that poor guy leaving to catch an early morning flight out of Bush. He takes Northpark and stops at a redlight at 59. Car pulls up behind him, one in the front, so he's boxed in. Next thing he knows a guy in the front car gets out, walks up to his car,and pumps bullets into him. He's lucky, bleeding and losing consciousness he makes it to Kingwood Hospital right off 59 South down the road. They saved his life. Apparently another gang initiation.
Like I said, Kingwood is going ghetto. Buyer beware.

I work in downtown. I leave at 630 and it takes 40 min. The woodlands is more like spending 3 hours a day in a car

I really like the area. All of the trees, golf courses, HEB and the breakfast taco place. It is the people that act like they live in some exclusive area that bother me.
