My youngest always wore shorts in the winter unless the wind was howling and the temps were really low. He said his legs didn't feel the cold as his upper body did. He wore long pants, jeans, and sweatpants when he felt like it. He was inside the school or gym most of the day until baseball practice anyway.

My kids started wearing shorts in 7th grade and now in high school they still do.Rain, sleet,snow,freezing cold no matter,seems to be a fashion statement these days because about all the kids are doing this.

It pretty much is, but we're talking moronic women here for the most part. There are something like 980 comments under this posted article on FB and its all mothers fighting with each other. Many are against allowing their kids to wear shorts in winter. Some are saying they take all shorts and put them in storage until Spring
Most of these people probably dont live in the South, but I still say let the kids wear shorts if they want. Some of these parents need to pick their battles.

Allowing your children to wear shorts is setting them up for failure in life, there's not one single respectable job to be done in shorts.

Living in the south, there are rarely times where temperatures stay below the 50's during the day. If kids are going to be running around outside then shorts are fine. Many schools in the south stay inside when temperatures dip below freezing.
In elementary school we were required to wear pants on mass says. Even in the winter all of us boys would change into shorts before recess.

I wear shorts 99% of the time, and I get this question at least 2 or 3 times day, it gets annoying. Though I do also wear flip flops most days, which adds to the comments.
I even wore shorts when working in North Dakota in February and March. Its the same for most of my friends who are still up north in ND, NH, PA, and OH.
My legs don't get cold much, it is what it is.
If it is going to stay under 30 for the entire day I will put on pants, but if the high is in the upper 30s/40s its shorts all day long.
