Not diabetic. I had bad blood pressure for years and always had issues with my medicine.
Is of because I don't look sick. I'm not acting sick. I just have no energy what so ever. Well I didn't. I got 3 units of blood and now I feel my strength back. So the transfusions helped. The levels still aren't high enough. I met with nephrology and they are going forward with the dialysis.
.
They have treated me good here. The only negative was the incredibly hot doctor did an anal probe of me. I had two hot 20 something Tulane women playing with my but. It was embarrassing. Lol

.,,and just when I thought I had problems.
Sorry for your condition. You have some decisions to make, but I'm hopeful for you.
Like others, prayers (really) for you.

I've found I can swim. Just no more swimming in the lake. In a chlorinated pool I'm on a long as I cover everything. But the doctor said no more swimming in the lake. Which I did often even knowing the lake is polluted.
I just sold my sailboat so I'm not going out on the lake all the time anyway.
I just bought a motorcycle and the doctor said that was OK to ride. So I guess my new hobby will be fine.
I'm upset because I had this entire week already booked with jobs and now I have lots of customers waiting on repairs who won't get fixed this week. Some of whom have already paid for work.
I'm trying to find a third party to handle my jobs. It sounds like I'm in here until Wednesday at the earliest.

The avg life expectancy of an ESRD patient starting hemodialysis is 39 months. If someone is offering their kidney for transplant, I'd suggest you take it.

My boss ran the Leadville 100 miler and not sure what happened but he was in kidney failure for weeks in ICU. He got boosted 1 week before to travel to CO, so we are not sure if that was a complication. They never considered giving him dialysis in the ICU because it causes issues sometimes if they dont know why the kidneys are failing.
Its also common to destroy kidney function with ibuprofen...were you taking large quantities of nsaids to recover from the injury?

I guess I'm worried about how much is going to impact my life to have to hook up to a machine.
If it were only a couple of times a week no big deal. But 3 hours every day sounds shitty.
I like to travel a lot.
I had a white water rafting trip in Colorado planned and a Mexican beach trip. . I'm canceling both.
Going to visit mom in Minneapolis instead and use some Caesars rewards points and go to Vegas.
Just to do something.
I'm looking at tours of dialysis and it looks like I can get in a certain network and my insurance will cover. So if I travel I can still do it.

Napoleon, a good bit of us have had serious health problems…and some were a complete suprise, just as yours were. I speak from experience when I say, it may seem like the end of the world….but it is not.
Life is just full of complications. You will be inconvenienced and be forced to rethink your priorities. A few months down the road, things will settle out and you’ll look back on this time and be glad you stuck with it.

The key is preserving what kidney function you have left. Good diet. Control your BP. PD is something you can manage and still have an active lifestyle.
The reason I brought up ESRD, is because while hemodialysis is amazing technology, the life expectancy sucks. The point is, if PD will keep you in CKD3 instead of progressing to ESRD, PD, compared to hemodialysis, is a mild disruption to your life.
Edit: when they teach you how to dialyse, pay close attention to the part about keeping yourself and your port/catheter clean. Infections suck for renal patients because antibiotics strain those kidneys.

It’s an inconvenience but much better to clean out daily rather than the traditional 3 times a week hemo, which is very rough on the body. I did 8-9 hours every night on a PD machine. Sounds like a lot but it was much more gentle and pretty easy to travel with, they’ll even set up delivery of supplies to your destination.

Hate to hear this. My dad was on dialysis for 8 years before getting a kidney transplant. He went to work every day and would go to dialysis on MWF right after work.
I remember on Mondays he would wake up not feeling well because of the two days going without.
He received a kidney and then 3 years later he passed away, he had several other health issues going on.
If you are on Dialysis, if you ever have to go out of town or vacation, they can schedule you to have it done near where ever you will be. Thats all I can offer.

Tell your nephrologist you want peritoneal dialysis. You can thank me later.
