Yes it was and guess what, you would have done the same in their shoes, but you have history on your side, they didn't.
If it was such a simple solution to abolish slavery without destroying family wealth, then I guarantee the struggles within Jefferson, Washington, Lee, etc regarding slavery would have never been.
And let's not forget how many black slave masters (owners of 50 or more slaves) that supported the confederacy and their(black slave masters) way of life. They were protecting all they had and how they maintained it.

I couldn't have written a more satirical response if I tried.
1) A Confederate backer calling someone else a "simpleton."
2) Justifying slavery because it supported the wealth of a few families in the South. I'm sure you pretend to be descended from one of those families to boost your status in whichever podunk Southern shithole you live in.
3) A few blacks owned a few other blacks, which totally minimizes any gripe people have against slavery in the US and the racial connotations behind it.

non sequiturs
even the most cerebral leftists on this board have deteriorated to avoiding discussion and not even trying to spin or use rhetoric when it comes to the current wave of anti-american, anti-expression, anti-anyone-who-isnt-offended-by-what-I'm-offended-by movement.

I bet there are more Confederate flying across the country right now than there were before all you pussies started whining about the flag. I see them flying out the beds of pick ups noe everyday. And not those tiny little car flags, the full sized ones. I used to never see that before.
