Just talking about private companies that have policies, in general. If you don’t want to comply, take your business elsewhere.
I bet you don’t have a problem when the government, and therefore taxpayers, continuously bails out the private companies in your industry who’s fiscally irresponsible policies create a need for that.

Think it through.
"Rules are rules" is just another way of wording "follow orders." I'm generally fine with following rules and orders, provided there is at least an inkling of logic behind them.
For instance, explain the logic behind these rules.
And yet once on the plane, you get this...
Give me one logical reason for the insistence on spreading people out while standing in line, but being fine with filling an airplane with people packed shoulder to shoulder for hours on end...other than money for the airlines. In this case of the video linked, there is absolutely NO reason to enforce a mask rule on a toddler, given the fact that the masks as used on the plane (constantly being taken down and shifted over and over for hours) are completely useless in that tight a space.
After all...both are "rules" right? Once you're fine with blindly following any and all rules simply because it's a rule by definition, you start getting people explain they were "just following orders."

Sure
That makes it even more admirable though.
They not just inconvenienced themselves, they paid an economic price too.

Me too, and I think it goes back to the English principle of fair play.
I generally ignore arbitrary rules, because no one has the right to impose their will on me, without good reason, and my consent.

The rules sure are the rules, unfortunately now a federal mandate. Also unfortunately not based on medical science. Most of the world doesn't mask kids until 5/6 years old.
We should trust the science, and that science says 2 year olds shouldn't wear masks.

Now that’s a peaceful protest?

Yup. I've always found myself generally being the kid/man who's asking, "Wait...why?" I'm open to the answer, but if there IS NO good answer, then I'm very likely to not comply without being forced to.
Much of the mask and distancing stuff has hit me this way. None of that addresses any thoughts I may have about Covid, or mask effectiveness or anything else. It's just painfully obvious how arbitrary and clearly ineffective so many of the rules put in place have been, and I just have this weird genetic trait where I simply can't blindly follow stupid and pointless rules without making a fuss about them.

It actually isn't. Don't want to cause any trouble, so just obey the rules. I've been told that by people in my own life and the media and government officials hundreds of times now, when the rules make no fricking sense. Sorry, this country has proven it will take physical safety over freedom. If you had lived in Nazi Occupied Europe, I think it's a safe assumption that everyone who has been saying "Rules are rules" would have definitely ratted out their neighbors to the Gestapo just so they themselves aren't later punished by them for helping hide the truth.
Two weeks ago Biden said if we are good little boys and girls that in 4 fricking months, I can have a small outdoor get together with a select few friends and family for one day. Sorry, not even the most abusive of parents are this condescending, tyrannical, sociopathic to their children. The only appropriate response to people like Joe Biden, Anthony Fauci, and Bill Gates is the following: frick Off! But no, rules are rules. Count yourself lucky that the old senile tyrant will let you hang out with eight of your friends one day a year... 4 months from now. Save for "I've got the results back and you've tested positive", "rules are rules" is the worst thing you can hear in a free society.

I’ve been living in my own very conservative bubble for four years now.
I caught up with some leftist friends from college recently and I was shocked by how scared they were, and how they had permitted covid, and the government, to ruin 2020 for them.
They had bunkered down, stopped traveling, stopped seeing friends.
They were excited about the vaccine because it was a permission card to live again.
The whole thing just made me angry.

That's what people don't get. You don't suddenly wake up one day in a fascist country where neighbors turn on neighbors. It takes time, and we are in warp fricking speed getting there. May not be the Jews or the Poles this time who are the primary victims, but I do like the direction this is going when people are celebrated for being openly racist, reenacting Jim Crow policies, and celebrating tyranny over your opponents.

If the airline requires a mask then it is the rule. How do you figure it isn’t?

Do you bootlickers really not see where this is going if we don't stand up to this lunacy, tyranny, and bullying? Wasn't it Patrick Henry who said "Give me liberty or give me death... unless we're against a virus that 99.9% of people survive and if we have a vaccine that slows infection rate by 97% and if you somehow still get the disease that your symptoms are reduced by 95% and not one person has died from Covid 2 weeks after the second dose." You of this time last year would think what you're currently saying is insane and pathetic.

Point wasn’t missed at all. Just the same regurgitated bullshite of private companies and rules are rules. My point was that these specific private companies have depended on public money multiple times to save them from their own financial mismanagement, and I never saw you posting posting “rules are rules” on here when that was occurring.
But as you’ve demonstrated almost every time you’ve departed from making up bs about how awesome your life is and tried to contribute intelligent discussion to a topic, you’re just not capable of thinking that deeply.

So do you not believe businesses can make rules for their own business?
You’re not answering the question. If the airline makes a rule, it is a rule. If you don’t follow it you don’t get to fly. You don’t actually have a right to fly.
