Kermit Ruffins' sister asking for donations to bury her daughter

Thoughts? Does Kermit not have as much money as I'm imagining he has? Why ask the public for donations? I get that this is tragic, but $15,000?? Her mother is NOPD and her father is NOFD- not that those positions pay millions...
ETA: I realize the link doesn't even mention that it's for funeral expenses. Her mother posted the link on her facebook page and I just assumed.

I'm not a fan of this trend of openly asking, but with so many "gofundme" type sites now, I see why everyone does it.

I really don't blame people for asking. It's the same reason why every intersection on College Dr. has bums working the corner - because people give them the money.

Perhaps this is directed at the NOPD, they did get raises recently which I don't think the NOFD did.

I certainly wasnt insinuating that anyone is obligated to pay for it other than the parents.
Point was that it's dumb to throw this on Kermit Ruffins like he is doing something wrong by allowing the family to raise money for the services

I don't know who Kermit Ruffin is but this is getting more and more popular. The kid killed on the ATV this weekend had family do the same thing.

Dylann Roof's sister wanted 5K to pay for her wedding and a honeymoon that her brother derailed. That is the gold standard so far.
