It's just a useless comment. I could say that you don't know that your situation is definitely better than what it currently is had Katrina not happened, and it'd be just as pointless (while still being true).
And you would be 100% correct, as you already know. I simply believe that attitude and the glasses that we use to view the world are about the only only things we control in life and I believe we are better off seeing this as a positive instead of a negative. I do genuinely believe the city is better off now because of the storm.

My sister magically came down with PTSD. I just make fun of her because she was living in Charleston at the time, and never came back
Me on the other hand, I got to poke a dead guy with a stick. Another cool thing I saw was a C class Benz stuck about 20ft up in a tree. Saw many dead people, animals tied up and dead, people begging for food and water, almost every house of people I know was flooded, cleaned out about 20 flooded houses, didn't have running water for a while, electricity for a couple of months, etc. I personally don't give a frick what happened. It did, so what's the reason to get upset about it?
My friends and family found out who the real leader and calm headed thinker was. I was told by two families that they wouldn't have been able to come back hadn't it been for me taking charge.
One thing I'll tell you for certain is that I'll never forget the smell

That smell was imbedded in my skin after gutting houses.

Im good right now. If someone come to spread nonsense i will. I just feel as much as the heartache NOLA had during Katrina is drought up, the heartaches of the people in gulf coast Mississippi should be brought up.

I have forgotten it. I don't know why but my mind just doesn't dwell on things like this. Could be some sort of ingrained self defense mechanism but I honestly don't even remember the smell.

Wow, didn't think this thread would go on so long. I brought this up because I started to get emotional this am just thinking about the first game in the some, specifically "the saints are coming" performance, which was surprising to me. I didn't even live down there during Katrina, so I can only imagine....

I remember sitting on the side of the road by Jazzland waiting on my mom and aunt to meet us so we could go check out everyone's houses in St. Bernard. The smell hit you right away but the craziest thing was the complete silence in that area. Nothing was alive. No crickets or birds. No highway traffic. No roaring from Exxon. Nothing. It was the eeriest thing I've ever experienced in my life.

Unfortunately I had to clean out our three fridges alone. The rest of the family was in Texas, but I was at LSU. Lucky me.
Ours fell over on the doors. We had to lift it up and everything fell out of it. Hard to describe that smell

I had to work outside of the Dome that game and I did not enjoy it. I also don't like Bono or U2 but the song was a nice move on his part.

They have been.

I do remember all of the dead hogs on the side of the road between N.O. East and Slidell. I guess I remember them because I like to hunt.

we bought a few packs of cheap ratchets everyday we would go back to strip houses. If i started in the kitchen the first thing i would do was ratchet the fridge/freezer doors so i wouldnt get the door opened behind my back. pluss it made it easy to dolley out without worry about the doors opening.
