New Orleans has really never came back from it.
New Orleans did pretty damn well in the first 10-12 years after Katrina.
The summer of BLM, Covid, and Teedy's stupidity is what caused Nola to fall again into a place it may never escape from.

The data that is available, though, shows that Ida was at least equal to or stronger than Katrina in New Orleans.
I was here for both, I can tell you Katrina’s winds were much worse in New Orleans than Ida, where the wind damage in the city was 10x’s worse for Katrina.
The Galleria had almost half it’s windows blown out during Katrina, and not one during Ida. And as the crow flies, both storms were equal in distance to Metairie, however Ida lasted much longer. Was totally shocked to see no windows blown out at the Galleria after Ida.

If I am not mistaken, Rita hit BR exactly one month later
I lived in Central Louisiana at the time and it was way worse there than anything BR could have experienced from Rita. No power for like a week if I remember correctly.

There are a couple of books that describe the barbarism that new orleans descended into after Katrina
The Great Gun Grab is an interesting piece of propaganda also. I'm sure the truth of the story's is in the middle somewhere.

A guy I worked with at the plants said sleeping in the Superdome during Katrina was scarier than any night he spent in jail
I'm sure it was.
A friend of ours was a nurse at one of the hospitals that got flooded. She had to bring her kids to work with her( boy around 8, girl around 11) and after they evacuated her, she and the kids were dropped off at the dome.
They spent one night there and were scared for their life. Someone they knew came in the second day and quietly told her they thought they had transportation out for her, but she had to slowly move towards the meeting point so as to not attract attention that a white family was about to get a ride out of town.

Has anyone ever thought to use the facial recognition software online to locate lootie
