I retained Jamie Fontenot and she's pretty damn good, though not inexpensive.

Need reviews. Thanks in advance
she reads law books like others read comics and she's a pitbull in the courtroom..you get the K-guarantee when you hire her and she can punt, pass, kick & throw way better than spencer callihan.

I've heard she's a bulldog for divorce and I'm a little bummed that my wife knows about her.
Probably a good custody attorney by what I know. Sorry no first person experience...all through my sister in law.

She is a great attorney and a pretty cool chick when not practicing law.

she's my pick as the top family attorney in baton rouge, and I practice in the area some.
Question....
What makes a good family law practitioner?
I always wondered this. In Shreveport, there are a couple of lawyers that get "ransom money".....ya know, spouse A plans on leaving, so spouse A goes and pays 1,000 to 4 or 5 lawyers in town so spouse B can't use them.
I'm a CPA, but have been in court 5 or 6 times over the years in matters of litigation support. Based on my very limited experience, it seems as if most judges are going to do whatever they are going to do anyway.
So, tell me, what makes one GREAT at family law?

Apparently, based on this thread, being a woman lawyer for starters. Probably makes it easier for them to beat up on either party. Guy lawyer whipping up on a female probably comes off ugly.

Divorce law is one of the biggest scams in america today.
They just made a documentary about this, forgot the name.

Have no personal knowledge of Ms. Downs. But her partner Vincent Saffioti has been an excellent family law attorney. Responsive, no nonsense, and gives you realistic outcome expectations.

I'd suggest Marcus Foote. Especially if retirement is involved.
ETA: Never mind. Just saw its custody related. I don't think he's taking any custody cases anymore unless it's involved in an ongoing property partition.

Are they on TV? Why do TV lawyers only want injury cases? Why don't the others go on TV?

While we're on the topic of family law, any recommendations for attorneys in the NOLA area. TIA.

She represented my brother with his divoce three years ago. Took my ex sister in law and her attorney behind the wood shed and spanked that arse. Made the other attorney, who was supposed to be one of the best, look like a fool. She's expensive, but in the long run, has saved my brother a lot of money. If you can afford her, hire her.

SHe is tops in the state of Louisiana. No attorney likes to go against her. I have some wealthy friends who have used her and know of some pro bono cases she has handled. You would not be dissatisfied with her
