Sneaky bitch is trying to use a bill to protect young girls to change the definition of marriage in Louisiana.

quote:

SB 463 carries some language which is supposed to be innocuous – its basic gist is to make 18 the minimum age for marriage – but it’s a time bomb that would utterly destroy Louisiana family law. What might that be?

Check out lines 10-13 of the bill…

quote:

Got that? This isn’t a bill to stop child marriage. It’s a bill to redefine Louisiana’s marriage law so as to codify gay marriage.

So the bill will die in committee because of this and no protections will be in place.

Question: what negative impact would this have on your life?

You worried that because it's legal, you won't be able to resist the temptation to get gay married?

And it's legal either way.

Then they shouldn't have gave incentives with tax breaks. That's discrimination against single people.

When you're more worried about gays getting their little feelings hurt than protecting young girls, I'd say it's time for you to move on.

It should be codified, as well as marrying as many partners as you want to.

The farther we get away from traditional drpefinitions of family, the more fricked up this country becomes- in my opinion.

They already are protected though...

Edit: what do you think the current marriage age is in LA? 16 year old girls can consent to frick under state law. Why shouldn’t they be allowed to marry??

Or have spousal privilege or give spouses power of attorney in DNR cases or protect them from insurance companies trying to frick them over.

Lots of things legal marriage do to help people.

Absolutely no material ramifications to letting gay people have those protections.

Besides Bubba and Peggy Sue being worried they’re going to catch the gay!

I think single parent households are a far FAR greater issue.

The issue isn’t the gender or sexual orientation of the parents, it’s the lack of parents.

if that were the case the government would play no role in alimony enforcement, child support and prosecution of deadbeat dads, and spousal inheritance

is that what you want?

Exactly, and why shouldn’t gay couples have those protections?

There is absolutely no law anywhere that says your little bigot church will ever have to marry gay people in the eyes of your lord.

None.

This has absolutely no negative impact on any straight people.

I really want to know if OP thinks there is a legion of 13 year old girls in LA who are being married off to older men and that this bill was going to put an end to centuries of abusive marriages until the sick homosexuals stuck their noses into the situation.
