We have ducks in our pond, at one point we had 5 males and 5 females. You would think that would be a stable corkscrew to cork relationship.

Nope. The 5 idiot males pick their favorite female and all gang rape. They killed every single hen over one mating season.

Seems like some pretty shitty evolution

i have a pond behind the house and watch the mallard rapist regularly - most interesting tactic is 3 single drakes going after a mating pair...the drake with the partner will continuously be running off one of the 3 why the other 2 try to get after the hen...usually it ends with the hen just flying off

Yea you see it alot. Fun fact though - females can actually somewhat control if they get fertilized or not.

I see male birds fight all the time in my back yard over a female bird. One will get on her, then the other will attack him, then get on the female until the other one comes after him. The female just sort of sits on the powerline like "can one of yall just knock me up?"

I had some pet mallards that I caught humping.

He held bitch down.

Ducklings running around +in full blast cuteness.
