Some people who are mostly reviled here, when they make a good point or make a good post, people upvote them.

Or you could post something dumb that gets a hundred downvotes, but people forgive or forget by your very next post.

If you write something truly heinous, though, people will log in to downvote it. There is a giant silent majority on this website. I've seen posts get 700 or more downvotes.

Would actually be interesting to find out what are the most upvoted and downvoted posts in TD history.

Okay, let's say I don't like you. That i (hypothetically) consistently don't care for something you do, or some aspect about you.


But then, you produce/create/whatever something that I legitimately like/enjoy.

In a vacuum, I think it's great and would give it my upvote...

But then I see who made it, and even though I think it's worthy, I can't separate the art from the artist, so I must cast a downvote (or at least abstain giving my assent) because I can't admit that sometimes someone I don't care for makes something I do.


It's like the rare occasions OweO makes a salient point.
