I'm not positive if it's banded or a diamondback. I am positive it's harmless though. Or was. Call me a weirdo, but I welcome non-venomous snakes on my property.

Trying to teach my 7 y/o not to pick up snakes. We were in the yard a couple of months ago and he yelled "look daddy"... he had a Dekay's Brown snake in his hand. I'm trying to introduce him to the woods. Don't want him afraid of the woods, bug don't want him picking up a copperhead either.

Not weird. I wouldn’t have messed with it if it wasn’t so close to where my kids hang out

I come from a long line of people that kill all snakes and I'm trying to break that chain. My oldest kid loves reptiles. I'm just trying to temper his expectations. I try to keep him in the woods deer/duck hunting, but he's a nerd.

Let the harmless one's live baw. They'll save you some money in pest control.

I’ve got a water snake that hangs out on my jet ski dock. He gets under the ski in the shade. You can’t see him until you push the ski off the dock.

It has taken some getting used to. My wife (no pics) doesn’t like it, but she gets on her ski first and I push her off the dock so she doesn’t have to deal with it. She’s a keeper.

You do you man, and I mean that. I totally understand why some folks don’t want them around period dot.

I appreciate what the non-venomous varieties bring to the table in terms of pest control.

All that said, if I catch a canebrake/copperhead/cottonmouth in my yard, I’ll grant it no quarter.

I have an agreement with the snakes in my woods. If I don't see you I won't shoot you. Cross the gun line and it's on. I'm not taking the time to figure out if it's venomous or not. Shoot first ask questions later.

I need you to develop that same attitude about House Sparrows and European Starlings. I heard they are deathly venomous. You should kill every single one you see.
