It is interesting to research your family history. Mine suprised me to find that not all my people came from Acadia. One came down from Illinois with Bienville to settle in Mobile. His plantation was in Bay Minette.(hope that does not make me part Gump). His father-in-law was the French General who captured George Washington at Ft Necessity. His son became the owner of a plantation that is now English Turn. He was killed by Indians at Pass Manchac.

I'm going with USA without hesitation. I don't think the French, Spanish or CSA rule could have given us a better life,

My ancestors served in the Confederate Army. I honor their service without question. That being said, I wish a political/financial solution had been reached that would have spared our country the War Between the States. Too many hot-heads on both sides. The average guy paid the price.

Oh it absolutely is. Our other family plantation in grosse tete burned down I believe about 50 years ago. Can't really remember. Only been there once or twice since it's all leased out now. But it is interesting knowing a large population of former slaves moved to baker/north baton rouge and have my ancestors last name now. They still use that last name and in fact, one of the descendants works for my grandfather's company

Look I'm still in the waking up mode. I haven't had my morning bowl, haven't even gotten out of bed yet... What does this mean, exactly? Phrasing is all kinds of wack

See...you don't know that. At all. You assume that to be the case, but we have no idea what the world would look like today had the CSA and USA been able to coexist in harmony. How would wwi and world War ii turned out? Would the CSA have gotten into that war as well? Would Germany had tried to spark the old CSA/USA conflict back up instead of mexico/USA in wwi with the Zimmerman telegram?

You have zero way of knowing.

Jefferson Davis had an issue with micromanagement. He wasn't a great leader.

I answered 1/ 3 of a question and did some math. That's exactly substance. Do you want more?

Over/under guys in this thread who, while wearing something with a Confederate flag decal on it, have said about anti-Trumpers, "They need to get over it. They lost" : 0.5

It's an easy over, right?

Still baffles me that Sherman has a huge bronze statue in New York after he ordered his men to go scorched earth in Georgia and killed innocent women and children.

Liberals now complain about statues in the south and what they represent yet none have any clue of what Sherman did. Smh

Well. First off. Jeff Davis didn't graduate and go off to war like you imply. So you're wrong there.

Taking arms against the United States for the purposes of legitimizing as a government a militia who sought, among other things, to continue the North American slave trade is a bad thing.

Taking arms against an enemy of the United States is a good thing.

Now you don't have to be baffled.

I disagree, if it could have been wrapped up in 1862.

Got any substance or are you just here to bitch at me for the fact that the Civil War was a war fought over slavery?
