Dazed and Confused came out in 1993. It was set in 1976.17 years apart.

So, if a movie like that was made today it would be set in 2001.

Mind blown gif

And it would be a terrible movie.

2001 was a bad year though.

Yeah a Dazed and Confused movie revolving around 9/11 would’ve sucked IMHO.

I didn't wipe my nose like I had a bad coke habit when I was 14, unlike that fig Mitch Kramer.

2001 Space Odyssey was made in 1968 which was 33 years before it was set, and get this, 50 years ago this year.

Mind blown.

Maybe he didn't expound on the point but I've thought the same thing, do youngsters look at movies and music from 2000 as "oldies"? I dated a 23 year old for a little while and didn't think she would know anything prior to the last few years but her favorite movies were Cruel Intentions and Varsity Blues, gave me hope for this world.

2001 was seventeen years ago for all of us.

Not all of us think OMG IT WAS YESTERDAY. Some of us think it feels exactly like seventeen years ago.

The OP is a tired trope.

There is literally nothing mindblowing about you feeling old.
