Just got a phone call from my grandparents' banker asking where I was, and if I was injured and in a hospital in the Domincian Republic. Apparently the other Nynolaguy1 had gotten a broken nose, his teeth knocked out, and was in a DR hospital and needed $1000 dollars wired to him immediately to an overseas account. Of course there were drugs involved so they didnt call my parents. He knew the names of all of my siblings, addresses, family, etc... apparently he was convincing.
My grandparents' banker, having the good sense to investigate, called my cell to verify where if I was in NY before he completed the transaction. Fortunately it didnt happen.
Just a PSA to keep a lookout for these things....

That happened to my parents, except they were told my nephew was in jail in Paris, and needed money wired for bail...
My parents were convinced and almost did it...I first told them he was not in France, and asked them if they even tried calling him to confirm... They said no...
It's amazing how people fall for that shite...

People who scam others, especially the elderly, are truly scum of the earth.

My grandmother gets these calls at least once a month.

The people that do this count on the shock value to overwhelm any sort of logical thought process.
The people that do this are the scum of the earth.

I got one of these calls from someone trying to convince me my brother was in tax trouble. My response was not kind.

Post the number so the OT can call them and mess with them

My in-laws got a similar call. Sad thing is, they made small talk for five minutes before asking for get-out-of-jail money. He figured out it was fake when the girl said she didn't want to call her parents (us). When he asked for a number to call her back the scammer hung up.
My mother answered a call that said, "Hi, Grandma!" She hung up immediately because she is "MawMaw" to all the grandkids.
