Just found out I’ve got a large brain tumor today. The tech let me see it on his screen and it’s not good. The neurosurgeon will be around to talk options in the am. Anyone have any experience with such. TIA
My dad had one removed about 10 or so years ago. Was the size of a small orange, surgery took +- 18 hours. He’s fine now, still sees a neurologist once a year and takes seizure meds regularly.
ETA: they said it had likely been growing for many, many years. Some of the vessels going to the tumor were as big around as a pencil
He had a few of the symptoms you had, would get weird smells of garlic when none was around. Woke up several times with a chewed up tongue because he was having seizures at night. Finally had a seizure at work and was taken to the hospital and discovered the tumro

get out of Shreveport and go to UTSW in Dallas
Nanda is one of the best neurosurgeons in the world and he was right there in Shreveport until state politics ran him out.

I’ve scanned (MRI). Quite a few people with brain tumors. They got them removed and have been back for follow-up imaging. All doing good. Some with headaches but said was better than the alternative.

I have experience and would like to share my experience and thoughts with you. The tech should not have done what he did...
Regardless, mine was an acoustic neuroma (slow growing, non cancer)
Give me your email, I'll send a #. All confidential. I know what your going thru and how you feel not knowing details.
What town are you in?

Dr. Guthikonda did my dad’s surgery, and at the time we were very pleased with the results.

He might not need to have an invasive craniotomy. He maybe can be treated from an interventional aspect with catheters and embolization to shrink tumor. Hence, go to an endovascular neurosurgeon at UTSW.

Gear up to fight. Get the best medical experts you can afford and rally your friends and family. Get someone who will go to all appointments with you and get them to take notes.
Do they know what type of tumor it is? Many tumors can be completely removed with no regrowth at all.
My sister has a Glio (Stage 4). She's still around after one surgery and a round of treatment. The gave her around a year to live and she's at 8 years so far.
No matter what you never know what will happen. Stay hopeful and have faith my friend.

Bull frickING shite. I'm in a lawsuit against him as we speak. I've given more details before. Going on 7 years since he operated on me.
Hes a skull based guy ONLY. That's not always best for all tumors, but hell go in that way regardless

Weird. I smell smoke that isn't there. Sometimes wood smoke, sometimes aromatic like pipe tobacco.

My mother started having double vision one day. We found out she had a tumor in a very inoperable location. The only option was to treat with radiation using the gamma knife. The good news was, because of the location of the tumor, they feel certain it is a meningioma. These are almost always benign. We decided to fly to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for the treatment. Everything is going fine and miraculously, her only symptom, the double vision, went away on its own.
