Twin Roo + is the way to go with the car seats.

It's about 110 for a frame stroller you just snap in.

Wife found a cheaper one, that doesn't need the attachments for carseats (if they aren't the anointed ones that go with the Twin Roo)...

We owned this one too. Great option that allows basically any car seat you want. We had two KeyFit 30 car seats FYI.

Good to hear. We have two hand-me-down Graco's (same model, just different fabrics), and I was worried that the wife (and Amazon) may be wrong.

Any of you have surprise twins? What worked during the pregnancy and immediately after that you would recommend form anecdotal experience? What definitely was a bad idea?

Right here man....in my first year of Law School!!!!!

1. Start buying things now like diapers and clothing;

2. They will probably be pre mature which means you and momma will go home but they wont and thats tough. Mine are identical and weighed 5.6 and 5.8 so they stayed in NICU for 10 days to fatten up. Be prepared for what you will see in NICU its brutal.

3. Enjoy. Other than the cost twins are easy, you have built in playmates. We had a single child 4 years later and he god damn nearly killed us! Twins have each other.

Pick one brand and one brand only of all bottles, sippy cups, etc. If anyone gives you other brands, return them.

Why, you ask? Each brand has a subtly different thread pattern/size and they are not interchangeable, which is a gigantic pain in the arse at 3 am when you are trying to find a lid for a cup you just filled while a kid screams in your ear.

Thank me later.

(Congrats, my twins just turned 7.)

Those Britax's look sharp. I think in a stroller and carseat we are looking for things that quick-snap together. no having to fumble with straps, etc. Things that are made to just snap in and go.

Easy, easy, easy is the name of the game I think I am playing. I don't mind paying a few dollars more for convenience when I am having to deal with two at once.

Congrats.

I think ahead to if/when I start a family and think I'd prefer to have them bunched together. I'm sure it makes the infancy and college stage a pain ($) but the time between your first pregnancy and when they are out of the house is shortened.

Thinking of doing the Irish twin method.

For example,

You have 3 kids, 3.5 years apart each, starting with 30

30 - first kid born
33.5 - 2nd kid born
37 - last kid born

52 - first kid out of college (4 years)
55.5 - 2nd kid out of college
59 - last kid out of college

That's 29 years of pure parenthood.

Whereas, you have them year and a half apart,
52 - first kid out of college
53.5 - 2nd kid out of college
55 - last kid out of college

It is 25 years, and you can bank a little cash on the back end of your career after kids towards retirement.

I'm naive as frick tho

Assuming no issues and we deliver, we are two and done. Neither of us have any interest in a third. We always wanted to.

We just never talked about two at once. I would recommend to all couples right now that if you are talking about having kids, talk about the possibility of twins.

first 18 months are the worst. I have a set of boys. after 18 months it wasn't too bad. Mine NEVER slept. It is imperative to have them on the same schedule.

Also, I hate to be negative, but twins usually come a little early, and sometimes early babies have issues. Mine spent some time in the NICU because of lung development issues, they are now fine at almost 9 years old, but they said it was common for twins to go t the NICU, and I wish I would have known that was a possibility before hand.

Good luck! Best part of twins is the kids always have someone to play with.

Agreed, but they don't make a ton of "twin friendly" travel systems for car seats. We went with the Chicco KeyFit 30 car seats and the stroller listed above.

Side by side strollers are a complete waste of money IMO. That big SOB won't fit anywhere. Get an in-line stroller.

Also, to be frank, consider the fact that it will be incredibly intimidating to take them anywhere when they'll need a stroller and they're still in infant car seats. Get something cheap and easy for the infant seats like the one pictured above. When they get bigger you can figure out the rest. We went from the KeyFit30 to the Maxi-Cosi Pria 70 for the convertible seats recently. Sucks having to ditch the bases and pop-in, pop-out versatility of the KeyFit, but they just don't fit in it anymore.

I'll say this - if Maxi-Cosi made a seat like this for adults, I'd own one tomorrow. This think is such a beast.
