Just a reminder for you blowhards who plan to "boycott disney", here is a nice little image of what disney owns.

Here are some highlights:
quote:

ABC
ESPN (80% stake)
Touchstone Pictures
Marvel
Lucasfilm
A&E (50% equity holding with Hearst Corporation)
The History Channel (50% equity holding with Hearst Corporation)
Lifetime (50% equity holding with Hearst Corporation)
Pixar
Hollywood Records
Vice Media (10% stake)
Core Publishing
Hulu

Enjoy telling your 5 year olds they can't see the next pixar, marvel, starwars, or pretty much any other movie because the big bad mouse is racist.

Also, so much for the ww2 threads on here since history and A&E are getting nixed by you patriots.

People who claim to boycott companies because they do or say something politically that they disagree with are so full of shite. 99% of the time, they either:

a) Don't follow through with the threat, or
b) Never bought the company's products to begin with so the threat was an empty gesture

And that goes for both sides of the aisle, although I will say one side loves to complain about sky screamers and cancel culture only to do the exact same thing when faced with a company they disagree with.

Intelectual
Dishonesty

I see fans choosing not to watch or attend something based on beliefs far different than someone losing their job and livelihood for different beliefs

But yeh, lump it together so you don’t have to admit how ridiculous one side hs become

Because 90% of cancel culture comes from your side.

Yes I realize this is virtue signaling but I'm only posting this because the lady on the phone said she'd already been getting a bunch of calls today.

She said their team was getting ready for a meeting to discuss the situation and prepare what to tell the customers.

In reality this is one small piece that may not seem like a huge deal but if enough people call and threaten to cancel they might back off. I doubt it but at least my conscience is a little clearer.

I share my disney+ subscription with my brother so I'm planning to talk to him about it and tell him basically he's gonna have to go in on it alone because I can't support the blatant hypocrisy and silencing of an actually strong female lead who unsurprisingly is a strong independent female in real life.

ETA: This is about Disney firing an actually empowered and independent woman from one of their top shows.

Canceling cancel culture?

Jemelle got fired because her shows and her performance was tanking, not her politics

Do you see someone not going to a hamburger place because they no longer like the service, the same as the hamburger place firing an employ because they have different politics?

It’s amazing what this board will pretzel their brain into

You're being obtuse. The right pretends to boycott over dumb arse company policies too.

The recent ones that come to mind.
Dicks for not selling guns
Costco for mask mandate
Nike
Target for their bathroom policy

Cancel culture is a different animal and this case is separate, but don't pretent its only one side.

I see zero issue with people choosing to not buy a product they disagree with. Regardless if it’s liberals or conservatives

I find it horrendous to be fired for simple political beliefs, and have no clue how it’s being equated

She didn't even get fired. She left on her own accord. If I had to guess it was probably a mutual decision.

But the Trump administration did call for her firing, and I doubt there were outrage threads on it on this board.

30 years ago cancel culture was a right wing, religious thing. It's now fully embraced by the progressives.

You would think if progs really did care about human rights they would boycott Nike too, but they don't.

Honest question:

How far away are we from political affiliation becoming a protected class? 5 years?
