CBS never said they interacted. Only that there was video of two persons of interest, and that in that same camera or video Smollett already had the rope around his neck.

Surprisingly, most people are dismissing that thought.
I do like the comment suggesting that it’s because there is an anti-lynching bill, covering a litany of minority groups, being pushed by the Democrats, so they want to use this as tangible evidence for its need.
That’s some interesting tin foil.

I'm just happy to watch some high profile politicians calling for over the top investigations and legislation in response to this. I really hope they go even harder on this so it'll be an even bigger clusterfrick when all this collapses

True, but the adjusting of story/time can’t get too crazy, as there are various videos with timestamps to contend with.
