I know there is an argument about it scaring people of real crime to come forward if he gets punished, but he fricking hired two guys to stage a hate crime.
That shouldn't discourage anyone unless they too staged it. If it had actually happened, they would have came to that conclusion.

Not contributing anything to the thread, but I still feel like Jussie got this whole idea for the Hoax from the Empire writers room.
Like he probably sat in on a meeting one day, and someone tossed the idea of having Jamal(Jussie's character) be jumped by some white guys while calling him the N word, and a fa**ot. The characters react and try to get revenge on the perpetrators. But turns out it was all a plot by Jamal to get publicity for his singing career or new album.
Everyone else then proceeded to remark how dumb of a plot idea it was, how unbelievable the story would be, and basically laughed and shunned that person out of the room.
