Even if they can’t prove Smollet was behind the letter, I don’t see any way he avoids blame for the fake lynching.

We are too far into this for him to get off with nothing.

At this point, this is all going to be a dog and pony show. Sadly, politics will play more of a part in this than criminal proceedings. It’s a fricking sad situation that we are in right now as a country. I have zero faith that this guy will ever be in any kind of trouble

You would be right if it hadn't gone to the grand jury. Once it got there its obvious its not going to be stopped. Politicians would have killed the police investigation way before it ever got to the grand jury had they wanted this squashed.

CPD has allocated, if you believe Jim Kass of the Trib., 20-25 detectives to this investigation. 20-25 in a city that has what? 7 shootings a night? with a clearance rate of only 17%.

There's a whole lot of violence and real heartache and death in Chicago and they are having to waste +/- 20 DETECTIVES, not just blue shirts, but detectives on this fraud. If I am CPD I do every little thing by the book with complete documentation so that this p.o.s. (and I do NOT type that lightly) gets every last bit coming to him.

Has it gone to grand jury?

Last I heard, it hadn’t.

Right, so we've established my being paid off question/theory was not the best lol.

But my question still stands, still wondering if anyone knows what type of thing could have occurred in that call to stop the brothers from testifying just then? Obviously not asking for specifics in this case as we don't know, just some educated guesses on what it could have been.

Juicy and his crew are intentionally delaying this investigation in every way possible. They want this out of the news cycle ASAP.

They may be delaying so they can plead some charges down if he pleads guilty. Maybe get him a bunch of misdemeanors rather than a felony.

Gotcha, makes sense.

Thanks

They have already said the person responsible for the letter made a critical mistake. They were looking at the letter before the “attack”. Federal peeps don’t play around. That is what he should really be worried about.
