Jury duty: how to get a mother of 6 month old excused? (Orleans Parish)

My wife is required to report in January. Our newborn will be 6 months old. My wife is the primary caregiver, and our son feeds on breast milk only. Hiring a sitter for two weeks would be a huge and costly burden. Any advice for getting out? We already went online and requested to be excused, and even attached the birth certificate -- no dice, our request was denied. All help is appreciated!

I was in a federal jury pool with a guy who had a job interview in Tampa coming up, and they excused him (he said this in voir dire). They want people who aren't going to be checked-out mentally, and it's really easy to tank voir dire.

People should be able to opt out of serving on a jury just cuz they don't want to do it.

Been there, done that.
If she still hasn't been excused with what you sent in, she has to go, but on the first day they will ask people if they have any reason or hardship which would prevent them from serving. She then will have to talk to the person asking and tell them the issue, and she'll probably be excused.
One time I had to talk to the judge as he was questioning potential jurors; as soon as he found out my kids' ages, he said "You're excused".
ETA: This was 19th Judicial District Court (Baton Rouge)

they are usually pretty lenient on this. show up with the baby. try to get it to cry.
