My wife did rotations in the ED there, the stories alone haunt me. But the people they saved is nothing short of a miracle. One guy was shot in the heart, her job was to apply pressure to some hole in some artery (she observes patients rights so I never get any detail) and he is alive.

WDSU says that the officer was making a pedestrian stop. Officer must have been on duty and not off as earlier speculated.
