Curious that they have not named the suspect yet, scanners mentioned the escaped cons from Mississippi but that may have been unrelated.

I haven't followed this entire thread. There was more than 1 suspect? They haven't given the names of any suspects yet?

That's odd. Hopefully they beat the frick out of them after they caught them.

A lot of news articles get written as if things happened in Gretna but are really the outlying areas or Terrytown. Very little happens in incorporated Gretna. It's usually the GPD doing the shooting.
Same thing happens with Westwego. Westwego proper is among the safest in southeast Louisana but it's surrounded by absolute shite (Lincolnshire in Marrero and Beechgrove in unincorporated JP). Crime in Beechgrove is always reported by the TP as happening in Westwego.

They did and from what Fox 8 showed they were caught on camera doing it.

Gretna Police do not have an inordinate number of officer involved shootings. Tell us about any that were not ruled justified. Thing is parts of Harvey are a murderous hellhole (Orange Blossum, Tallowtree, etc.) and parts of Algiers are also a murderous hellhole. The only thing separating Harvey and Algiers from Gretna is an invisible, magic line. Across that magic line in Gretna, there are hardly any murders. Why's that? Gretna is not markedly more affluent or demographically different from their neighbors. No, it is a proactive, well-funded, well-staffed, well-trained, police department that makes the difference. If either NOPD or JPSO were responsible for policing Gretna then it too would become a murderous hellhole. That is not to slight the men and women of those agencies, but rather the leadership of The Mitch, and Newell "never made a solo arrest in his life" Normand.

In the 80's and 90's Woodmere in Harvey was a decent working class neighborhood. Then the Federal gov't targeted it for destruction via HUD and now it is incredible how bad Woodmere has become. That subdivision had something like 15 armed robberies w/in a month a while back, granted it is the biggest subdivision in the state.

I'm from Marrero but moved away 2 decades ago. Lived next to John Ehret high and belle promenade mall in a subdivision called Nottingham.

Anyone know if it turned into a shite hole? Or the area near Kings Grant playground off Barataria

Reading this thread is taking me back to childhood. Sad to hear what has happened to Woodmere

Woodmere

In 1999, I did a favor for a relative - walked that neighborhood putting fliers on doors. Walked a block, said frick this, got my gun and carried it the whole time. No issues, it wasn't that bad, but the decline had started. Now, no way I'd do that shite.

Shot the officer 3 times in the back, this perp deserves worse than anything I can imagine.. what causes this 19 y/o to commit such a heinous act is beyond me..Jerman Neveaux is the perp btw

officer observed a car following another car close. Person in car 1 was nervous and scared on phone with girlfriend.

Both cars seemed to be pulled over according to Normand. Told car 1 to scram. Got perp out of car, tried to search him. Perp flipped around, belly to belly, and shot officer over his shoulder into his back. Officer fell to ground and he fired 2 more shots into his back, point blank.

Normand didnt really give much other detail

Soon there will be an excessive force claim with this video. You know it's coming, and it makes me fricking sick.

I hope that mfer burns.

The area around Ehret is still fine. Eastern Marrero has gotten trashier but the demographics haven't changed much.

JPSO made it clear that Neveaux was still armed during the arrest, all the force used was necessary and more was deserved
