On Mardi Gras day there are a ton of truck floats. Those can't be that much cheaper to ride on than just joining one of the many JP krewes that are in need of more riders. I wonder if limiting the truck floats would drive membership to other krewes in JP?

This has kind of already been happening, but the riders have been going to uptown parades like King Arthur and Alla (2 former Westbank parades) and not other Jefferson Parish parades.

There aren't nearly as many truck floats as there used to be on Mardi Gras day.

And there was also Isis, Mercury and Sinbad but I forgot what days they rolled on.

Isis was second Saturday
Mercury was second Sunday during the day
Sinbad I’m pretty sure was Tuesday

Saturn iirc only rolled in Kenner on Saturday (I’m thinking it was actually the Saturday prior to the first full parading week

Centurions I always remember being on the first Sunday night

My parents rode in Mercury for probably the first 5 years of its existence. We wouldn't be able to go to Endymion because of how early they would need to wake up the next morning. We would usually go to Isis instead.

Zeus was always the best parade in metry

Zeus held their meetings in the Rummel cafeteria. I was a senior in 1979 and just showed up to a meeting after I turned 18. The old guys got a kick out of it and found me a float that needed a rider.

The captain was a JP judge and got things done. We used the same floats as Alla (they were on the Westbank at the time).

I rode for 10 years. Good memories.

I think they originally started on that Tuesday then moved to Sunday. It was originally a Harahan and River Ridge parade, then moved to Metairie.

Caesar and Zeus gone? That's news to me.

JP threw its weight around to much and Caesar said so long and thanks for the fish.

Madhatters was fantastic last night, the crowds were huge. Excalibur Friday night was good, but The crowds were light because it was freezing. JP Mardi Gras is fine.

In high school some of us would go to Bonnabel and Vets to catch the parade.. A porta let right there on the neutral ground.. There was this hot tall girl hanging out and looks like she was watching some grade school kids.. She goes into the porta let and the kids timed it right and swung the door open as I was looking and there she was standing with her pants and panties at her ankles... The most perfect triangle bush...

I went to ACHS ('79 grad) and was at your graduation. Ha!

We probably know a lot of the same people from way back when.
