Cousin and I were trying to run into the wind. Making very little progress.
It shifted to behind us quite suddenly and we both ended up being shoved/thrown about halfway through the field. All while leaning back to try to stop moving.
It felt like running/falling down the side of a damned mountain.
I finally managed to stop, and was leaning back into the wind, and it blows pants and boxers down to my boots.
After the storm, all of the houses we had passed and structural damage from being racked.

The mental toll of that storm must have been huge on those that rode it out

i've NEVER seen anything remotely close to that...
Hurricane Audrey - 1957. White out conditions just like this. We were all huddled in the biggest house in the neighborhood. I remember the house shook, and the wind howled outside. My Dad made us get on our knees and pray. We figured we were all toast.
A cousin lost two toddler babies. Raging water sweep the babies from her clutches. They never found them.
Now, hurricanes get anywhere close to us......we're outta here.

I was just impressed by the little tree hanging on by a root....
But yeah, the hoods blown back on the cars was pretty incredible...
Like with Katrina, I beam billboards bent over 90 degrees to the ground was a site to see as well...

The end looks like Chalmette and arabi after Katrina and wow that storm really did some damage. Seemed like the wood structures held up better than the concrete and cinder block construction houses.

Walking the two miles back I saw something like that. Later we realized it was from a tornado touching down very near us. At 300lbs and staying low, I got blown about 20-30ft while trying to run.
