Million Dollar Quartet.

Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and the King.

I proved him wrong

The Beatles and Stones were a better boy band

I like kristoffersons music. He is a hell of a poet/songwriter.
That said, he can't sing for shite.

But he can hold his own, and when he sings his songs... it works.

Neither can John Prine, but he is still one of my favorites. I'm going to cry when he croaks.

Thinking of great songwriters and bad singers, there's a fantastic live set from the Bluebird Cafe with Guy Clark, Steve Earle, and Townes van Zandt from the early 90's. Definitely recommend checking it out.

ETA: I like Guy's voice, though.

Exactly. Jeff Lynne wrote great music, with an orchestra involved, and killed it in concert. Waylon, Johnny Cash, and Willie could all deliver in concert. Kristofferson could write the music, but couldn't perform it. Individually, they were awesome. Combined, it wasn't the same.

I'm gonna find me a reckless woman
Razor blades and dice in her eyes
Just a touch of sadness in her fingers
Thunder and lightning in her thighs

You still are not really catching the theme here are you

The Beatles and Stones would top the rock group category.

Every Highwaymen song has all 4 singing solo and together. This is similar to the boy band craze that happened. That is much more different than the bands you listed.

We really have people arguing the Beattles arent a band

Boy Bands usually started as a Band, gained popularity, and then some would split to individual popularity after.

Gee, I wonder who else did that.......

We are not really arguing they are not a band either. They are a rock group or rock band, use whatever name you want.

They are not a "boy band" though.

Supergroups aren't in the same category as originally formed bands.

Sure, fair enough

I dont really see where that is addressed though

But, is John and Paul not a super group really? Those two muddas were individual musical geniuses on their own
