Have at it. I took that picture with my phone.

It's cheaper to put a bridge north of Baton Rouge than south because the river is only dredged for ocean going ships from the Huey P. Long bridge (BR) south. The Audubon bridge doesn't have to be high enough for ocean going ships to pass beneath it. That's why it was half the price of any proposed bridge south of Baton rouge.
So we got a "deal" on a brand new shiney bridge in a place that would impact Louisiana traffic the least!!! Sounds like smart shopping to me.
Sure we may need a more pricey bridge that would get 100% utilized, but since its more expensive, let's build a really nice bridge where it will never be utilized to even 50% of its lifetime capacity.
I'm getting closer and closer to leaving this state full of retards.

How the hell you know? I was paid around $2400 an ac of matured wooded land. Hell, I lost that much just in cypress logs per ac. Besides that, they split my place in half and now have noise from the road to were I used to hunt that section. I don't now due to the noise from the road.

funny thing is all the proponents of imminent domain and "taking" someone's property would shite egg rolls if it happened to them.
You want my land for a loop, bridge, dog park, whatever, then fricking pay me for it. Not my fault you live in a congested suburb and have a long commute fighting traffic. Suck it up or get a job closer to home. But don't rail me because you have to fight I10 everyday. That's on you.

Sure as shite. We fought it and lost. But we were able to get them to move it some. Reason as to why the Ventress ramp is the way it is.

at least the Ventress impact was limited to pasture land. I'd be pissed too if they put it within earshot of my home.

It was an increadibly stupid and short sighted decision which I do not agree with, but I do understand the logic behind it.

Much of my family's homestead which my father, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, ect still live on will be demolished to make way for the southern loop if it ever happens and goes as far south as it's currently shown. My family has owned and lived on that land since the 1870s. It would likely be taken for pennies on the dollar and leave all of them, many of whom are retired, out on their arse.

Which is utter bullshite. I don't think you should be able to derail the loop , but I'd certainly back your family on whatever they decided the land is worth (given it was fair and realistic).

Also, the state paid me pennies on a dollar to steal land from me and other landowners.
I call bullshite on this. I am sure your lands was worth millions like all the other land owners claim when the state may buy their property for row on roads.

It's there because local politicians and taxpayers wanted a bridge there for a long time.
Ask politicians in Baton Rouge what they need from the state, and they'll disagree on everything. They can't even agree on if they need a loop (they do) or if they should widen Airline (they should). Other cities benefit from Baton Rouge's parochialism and fractured delegation.

Don't worry. We don't have the clout to block the loop. I just think it's ironic that 8 years ago when the loopla first got big, one of my cousins protested the route which would have taken it through Spanish Lake. It was really ironic that the new loop path taken once that route was eliminated from discussion just happened to go through her house. I bet she wishes she hadn't worked so hard to save Spanish Lake now.

That bridge cost 600 million and has about 2,800 vehicles per day. Just for some perspective, bluebonnet between 10 and airline has about 40,000vpd and Jefferson around there is about 60,000.

I probably got a survey truck and/or ATV stuck somewhere on your place.
