Now that they’ve defunded the police no telling how many Dahmers are getting off right now.
Amazing all the angles that people manage to cram into a bio-series.
I'm glad I can just watch a show and enjoy it for the production and acting and not have to dissect it 14 ways to find things to be outraged about.

Just finished this. Don't know if this was true or not but when the frat white boy pressed charges on the black daughter for breaking his camera she was arrested immediately.

I don't think it's much of a logic leap to think that the man that almost exclusively murdered gay black men was a racist homophobe at heart.
Lmao. To reddit-tier Netflix viewers what drove Dahmer to kill was, at heart, his racism and homophobia. What a brave new world we live in.

Should the police be blamed for what happened? Not wanting to get between Dahmer and his 'boyfriend' when he said he was just drunk and they let him lead the kid back into the apartment?
If that kid looked underage, as it appeared so on the show, the cops should have most definitely checked to make sure instead of assuming. They were being told two sides and they took Dahmer's word for it. If they would have just followed up, they would have saved him and several other people.
Every event usually gets put into the spin cycle, but Dahmer was a fricking monster.

Jesse Jackson was vocal about Dahmer in real life and went to Milwaukee. Why wouldn’t they include that in the show?
The events of the show are a bit exaggerated but that dude should have been caught earlier.
I don’t get why people insist on including prejudice where it isn’t, nor do I get why people insist on denying its existence.

I thought the show portrayed what actually happened as well as you could possibly expect Netflix to do in the current year.
They portrayed something happened and everyone wanted it to be about racism, but that in reality it was more complicated and probably didn’t have much of anything to do with racism as far as Dahmer was concerned.
They made the cops look worse than they actually were, and that sucked. I guess I’m probably so desensitized to faux outrage that I found myself somewhat refreshed that the show didn’t portray things much worse.

Well.. They are taking a late 80s, early 90s mindset of police and presenting it to an audience in 2022. Its going to look bad.

I agree with this 100%.

I never said anything about Dahmer being racist. I said the police not wanting to involve themselves in domestic disputes between gay men, much less ones involving gay black men, allowed Dahmer to get away with his actions for longer than he would have otherwise.
And not wanting to hurt gay mens feelings led to death and the spread of aids.
And black men not wanting to come out to their very homophobic community is why Aids is still more of a problem with blacks in america compared to others.
Everyone is racist.

because prejudice is very different than racism. Everyone prejudges most situations they have ever been in and prejudges people.
Here is an example, people assume serial killers are white, so when a black man was killing women in Baton Rouge they completely ignored him and were looking for white dudes, even though the cops had the actual killer in custody multiple times. That's prejudice that cost multiple women their lives.

quote:Yes. They did not bother to verify the underage male's identity, they did not bother to render medical assistance, and they lazily led a young boy back into the apartment of a convicted sex offender to be murdered. They should absolutely share a chunk of blame for that.
Should the police be blamed for what happened? Not wanting to get between Dahmer and his 'boyfriend' when he said he was just drunk and they let him lead the kid back into the apartment?
The location of the murder house was also in a part of town where crackhouses were quite prominent. They did not bother to check in on multiple calls from other residents detailing foul odors and weird shite going on because, well, it was in a shitty part of town and "these things happen".
frick those guys. And frick that judge for ordering backpay, too.

The way they portrayed him was pretty bad
They acted like he was a good ole dude sipping bruskis
To get away with it for as long as he did was pretty remarkable but the show made it seem like it was an easy serial killer to solve
Was some of it racist since most victims were black and gay? or was it just terrible police work if clues and witness accounts were truly ignored? Who knows.
The gay community at that time was basically underground and not out in the open so maybe you did have some witnesses that knew things that never came forward to protect themselves

Yep, if the story doesn't negatively portray white people in some way, we won't see it.

It had nothing to do with racism or who he killed it had everything to do with him becoming a Christian and saved. He felt that Dahmer should not be given that chance to be in heaven. But you missed that or just won’t admit it

It is believed that Scarver murdered Dahmer and Anderson, who were both white, because of Dahmer's murders of black males and because Anderson had stabbed his wife to death and attempted to frame two black males as the perpetrators of the attack. Scarver was quoted as having said, "nothing white people do to blacks is just."[1]
