It’s strange how the Pride article claims that Islam’s horrible treatment of gays and women is a myth, but they would gladly state that Christians treat women and gays this way.

As an avid viewer of RPDR, I actually cracked up when he asked this live. Jackie Cox has been parading around her Iranian heritage (Canadian citizen, mother fled before the Revolution) all season, and even made a statement in the opener to the effect that Persian drag queens are almost unheard of because of the environment in the Middle East - but she was completely unprepared for that question, which should have been obvious, given the proactive nature of her runway outfit + this episode being the political one.
This is a fringe idea even among the super-woke Drag Race twitterati, though. Most are in love with Goldblum and appreciates him pressing the issue. The person really getting dragged is another queen on the show who admitted to not being politically involved or motivated.
