A couple of other points... Aren't they a publicly held corporation... With stockholders and a board of directors? That make these big decisions?
No one and nothing is forced to use them... The public is not in dire need of the products or services that Amazon offers... It is almost entirely convenience or laziness that are driving this.
Maybe I AM deluded.

Quite frankly, Jeff can thank my household alot for his fortunes. Between my wife and I, we have bought 26 things on Amazon since the beginning of the year. Not to mention being a prime account holder.

I was looking for something under the seat of my truck this morning and found $20. Sadly, I'm probably happier about my $20 than Bezos is about $50 Billion. It isn't like he could ever spend his money in 5 lifetimes. But I'll damn sure spend my $20.
