frick Jeep and Bruce Springsteen.

It's not comfy if you're not driving, it's loud, and it's not really economical. That being said when I take the hard shell off, amazing.

Get an older model with a straight six. Cabin noise sucks, but you'll get good MPG and that engine will outlive you if you take decent care of it. You don't buy a jeep for the way it rides on a highway.

Actual unbiased review here.
Wife and I have been driving a 2016-17 2 door Jeep for the last 4 weeks.
Man talk about awful. We swap back and forth between it and my truck (2017 F150) and it is unbelievable how terrible the Jeep drives.
My truck isn’t some fancy platinum model either, it doesn’t even have leather, just a standard 4x4 truck.
The Jeep drives like a 4 wheeler. It’s rough, it has terrible gas mileage (2mpg worse than my truck), it takes corners like dog shite, it’s loud, and overall it’s just uncomfortable to drive or ride in.
I can’t for the life of me think this is a good idea for someone to drive as a primary vehicle. I can see it as a toy, a weekend machine, and something you pull behind your RV, but if you plan on actually putting miles on this thing look elsewhere.

2018 Rubicon with lift and tires and some upgrades. My wife and I actually started doing overland last year. As far as the ride and cabin noise.....it's a Jeep bruh. I have 35k miles and no issues. We use it only for off roading or Sunday booze cruise. I would post pics but the jealous people would just hate and down vote, so.

Glad this topic popped up. My daughter wants one badly, and will be going away to college in a couple of years. It sounds perfect for getting around campus, but what about the drive to and from home? She could be 4 hours away. Is it so bad that it is a miserable and unsafe vehicle on the highway and few times a year?

After Super Bowl, it is evident that Jeep only wants Commies and Cucks to buy their vehicles.

Been daily driving a 2D, stick, green, soft top, JK for two years. (2D stick is the only real Jeep)
Cabin noise - very good with top on up to 50 mph, noisy at 80 mph, not a long highway trip car, but daily driver to work is fun. Top down riding to the beach, and town is the best. This is with the standard factory set up. The build quality of the JK is vastly improved over early Jeeps. 4WD is easy to do in a JK, you don't even need to get out of the vehicle.
MPG - best at 45 mph in 6th, around 24 mpg, but off line and starts and stops 16 mpg, avg 19.
Longevity - 77k on the OD, no issues, I've done all my own maintenance, water flush, oil change, all super easy.
If you don't drive it you'll get issues like water in the brake lines.
The new Jeep has a aluminum frame, IMO you don't want a non steel frame, it can't flex. No rust issues in FL for me.
Love mine. Get compliments all the time, yes mostly women because it is small and cute. I'm okay with that. Been ducked several times, and ducked a few.
Cargo- there's no space, so don't think you're going to get a ton of groceries in a 2D.
Towing- it can't really tow too much, maybe a small boat. If you need to tow significant weight get a truck.
4WD it is a blast
The longer I own it, the happier I am that I bought it.
There it is.

Jeeps are not normally bought for these considerations. I have a 98 that is just fun to drive locally and on my rural property. Word to the wise it Can be a dangerous vehicle for a young inexperienced driver especially a two door that is lifted with large tires. Just unstable at higher speeds when trying to react to or avoid something.in the road. Mine is never taken on interstate for this reason regardless of my driver experience level. It just feels top heavy and it may not be but it damn sure feels that way. Anyway fun vehicle but I don’t consider a primary or even a backup vehicle. I consider a step above a side by side.

I have had an 80 CJ7, 2000TJ and now a 2015JK 4 door. Live in FL Panhandle
Drove the TJ all over the SE on vacations and for work. We have taken the JK to Texas and VA on vacations.
To me the TJ is the sweet spot in maneuverability, comfort and simplicity. Bought the JK used and it has all the bells and whistles.
I smile the most when driving them. Only have the hardtop for the JK and i dont think it's too loud at all. Dont have mud tires on it though.
Mileage on the TJ and JK were in the 17mpg range but i had the lowest stock gears in them with auto transmissions.

Wranglers are shite in literally every one of those categories.
Get a Wrangler as a second vehicle. They should never be your primary if you have kids, travel on the interstate, have a 30+ minute work commute, like a nice ride, rarely go off road.
