This happened on October 10th. This guy filming his trip was about 2 seconds from being killed. Crazy.

A woman and two dogs were in the red Jeep Wrangler pictured below, waiting for the driver to return from helping another car when it slid off the trail, ejecting her while rolling several times. While the vehicle was almost completely destroyed the female passenger survived, albeit with serious injuries. One of the two dogs is also reported missing, while the other is ok.

UPDATE: On Tuesday morning, we were contacted by the Jeep's owner. He tells us that Decker, the missing dog, has been located safe and sound. However, he tells The Drive that the 23-year-old woman ejected from the vehicle has severe spinal injuries, and has a very long road to recovery. He says that if you could like to help, you can donate to help cover her medical bills here.

The 22yr old male, who was the driver of the Jeep Wrangler Sport, told Deputies he had shut off the engine, applied the emergency brake and stepped out of the vehicle to help direct a driver behind him around a tight turn. The Jeep started to roll with his 23yr old female friend in the passenger seat. He tried to jump back into the vehicle to try and steer it, but he was thrown into rocks when it left the road."

I bet that he feels pretty terrible about that. Glad no one died at least.

This is why women shouldn't be allowed to drive.

A Jeep rolled off and down several switchbacks on Black Bear Pass onto Bridal Veil Road near Telluride on Saturday, seriously injuring a 23-year-old Durango woman who was in the passenger seat.

The woman, whose name was not released because of federal medical privacy laws, was flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction from Telluride Medical Center, said Susan Lilly, spokeswoman for San Miguel County.

A 22-year-old man from Durango, whose name also was not released by the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office, told deputies he had shut off the Jeep’s engine, applied the emergency brake and stepped out of the Jeep Wrangler Sport to help direct a driver behind him around a tight turn.

The man said the Jeep, with the woman in the passenger seat, started to roll.

The man said he tried to jump back in the vehicle to try and regain control of it, but was thrown into rocks when it left the road.

The Jeep rolled down several switchbacks ejecting the woman before coming to rest on Bridal Veil Road.

Both the man and the woman were initially taken to Telluride Medical Center.

The man suffered minor injuries.

Lilly said the woman suffered more serious traumatic injuries and was flown to the hospital in Grand Junction.

The couple also had a dog in the Jeep, and Lilly said the dog is safe.

Rule 1 of high consequence 4wheeling:

Never trust the E brake.
Chock the damn wheels and leave it in gear.
