Achsah's family came down with covid, only 1 confirmed delta variant.

Be safe everyone, covid is still out there, somewhere.

How do they differentiate all these variants with a nose swab? Different reagents??

I heard on the news this am that the swab can detect OLD DEAD VIRUS particles/whatever. So some positives, again, aren't positives.

I know it was a planted question, but a reporter asked him about it. He didn’t bring it up.

That being said, frick him for even addressing it. Everyone knows the risks. It’s not the governments responsibility to mitigate them.

My parents were told by the dr that tested them that they can’t tell if it is delta or not. He just told them they are positive. And yes they are vaccinated.

Are they sick sick or not really?

If so, hope they're better soon.

And if it can't be determined to be Delta or whatever the F else is out there, then how the HELL does these people say Delta is killing people???

If anyone wants to have an intelligent discussion, I noticed that the Region 9 (Livingston Parish and east) is by the far the worst in the state for cases and hospitalizations. How were the previous two surges in that area? I live in Lake Charles and last summer was by far our worst, at one point LC was considered the hottest spot in the nation. In this region, the winter surge had only 65% of the hospitalizations that the summer did. Lafayette was similar but there winter surge was a little worse.

They are fine now. It wasn’t too bad for them. They coughed a good bit and have fever for a few days.

Modern/Western medicine needs a complete overhaul, and quickly. I am in no way against vaccinations or medicine, but our bandaid approach to health is horrible. I predict the whole "fat is beautiful" charade will prove to be one of the biggest health setbacks in history.

We have known for well over a year that metabolic health is a primary risk factor for COVID, yet our health authorities have refused to call people to task.

Louisiana Deaths:
-4.6% of deaths have no underlying conditions
-37% had diabetes
-63% had hypertension
-28% had cardiac disease
-22% were obese

LDH site

You can scroll through the pages and select Region 9 to see their spikes/trends. Cases page shows they already had 2 spikes since the initial one ..

Hospitalizations for Region 9 shows 3 hospital spikes with another happening now. 262 was highest in hospital and now it's 95 trending up.

I just wish the media on hand would do their fricking jobs and ask him questions about why he is insisting on certain things.

I had the same reaction. All the doctors I know are "gung ho", as the poster said. The 3 doctors in my family think that the anti-vaccine attitude is pitiful and sad.

Yup. The Drs. that my wife, who is in the medical field, knows and the ones were are friendly with from growing up with or our kids are friends, they are dumbfounded by the anti-vaccine sentiment that is prevalent in our area. And this is wide variety of Physicians from OB-GYNs, General Surgeons, GPs, Radiologists, and a critical care physician. All Republicans, BTW.

I wonder what the demographics of region 9 are age wise. Is it a lot of young families?

This is an excellent question. I wish the LDH would report on the ages of those hospitalized.

Vaccine supporter or anti vaccine people should all be equally mad about this statement which is a flat out lie!
While I understand more people will die from COVID the idea that a doctor would go on a governors press conference and make this claim should give everyone pause about what this is all about.
I would say this is unbelievable but really it’s just another day in America.
