What economy JBE? The economy in this state is dead. It's a rotting carcass and you did your best to completely crush it with your insane lockdowns, attacks on oil and gas and high taxes and spending.
And this a-hole has the nerve to say this....
I remember back in 2015 when people who claimed to be conservative were sky screaming about David Vitter and his hookers and were telling me how Vitter was going to embarrass Louisiana and JBE is not so bad and he's a conservative dixiecrat that would just mind the store.
I was laughing and said that JBE is an obvious leftist that is nothing like the blue dog dixiecrat he claims to be and he was lying about what he really is and if they didn't stop losing their minds over Vitter, they would come to regret their choice for JBE some years down the road and regret it big time.
We'll, that moment has now arrived.
JBE is a snake oil salesman that conned the people of Louisiana so hard.

Gov. John Bel Edwards said Louisiana must address the looming effects of climate change on the state's population in ways that both reduce future weather disasters and create opportunities for the state to participate in a new economy , during a speech Monday at the opening session of his new Climate Initiatives Task Force.
"The fact that changes are happening in our environment, I think, are undeniable," Edwards said. He pointed to the seven hurricanes and tropical storms that already have affected the state in 2020 -- with a possible eighth, Tropical Storm Eta, looming in the Gulf of Mexico -- as examples of why it's important to for the state to participate in a worldwide effort to reduce greenhouse gases.

Obviously I am against shutting down oil/natural gas jobs since so many people in this state rely on that sector. But Louisiana should have really really tried to diversify it’s economy when it had the chance. Oil won’t be used forever, and when that day comes this state and most people in it will be plumb broke.

You try and get North Baton Rouge or Denham Springs residents to code.

The only thing politicians are clear on is their desire to get rid of it. They have ZERO legit ideas on how to do it.
There are so many contradictions to Wind, GeoThermal, Dams, Solar, and Nuclear. Many of those are just as harmful as O/G for the earth.
Again, China and India produce more than half of the worlds pollution and no one says anything to them.

Thing is, North BR is a sleeping industrial giant, waiting to explode... tons of low skilled labor waiting for something better
but nobody wants to invest massive money there and for good reason

Don’t know when but it will eventually. Remember when people said coal and steam power would last forever? My guess is between 50-100 years from now

Unless there is a sudden miraculous investment in nuclear, oil ain’t going anywhere. There isn’t a cheaper and more plentiful source of energy on earth.
Imagine all the people who lost power the last few weeks if fossil fuels were phased out. It cost me literally $14 in gas to power everything I needed to keep my food from spoiling, a TV on, and beer cold for four full days. Good luck getting that from solar.
Just take a look around you. Everything that isn’t wood or metal definitely utilized petroleum to be made.

The metal took a lot of energy to get it from the ground into the form you see it as too.

Dude has has been trying to eliminate the oil/gas industry from day one. Anyone who tries to claim he hasn’t is a fricking oblivious moron. Any Republican that voted for him should be banished to downtown Portland, Oregon.

Just saying, you could easily get that from solar.

Are coal and steam used to make billions of everyday products like oil?

I know more people with electric cars than I did 2 years ago

Most people have absolutely no idea the items we use daily that is made from oil that is not fuel.
It truly amazes me.
To get get rid of oil and gas would mean a complete change in nearly every product we use and what you going to replace it with?

You know solar is less than 20% efficient in energy in/energy out, right?
Not to mention the costs of establishing massive battery banks to store power when, God forbid, you have a cloudy day.
Unless of course you expect solar to be privatized and you be solely responsible for establishing your panels, battery bank, transformer, etc.
I'm so tired of the solar argument. It wont be viable for at least 100 years on a large scale.

Oil and gas ain’t going anywhere. No other energy source comes close!
