It's that time of year again, who's going to the Jambalaya Festival? If so are you cooking in the contest or you going support someone who is cooking. Or maybe you're just don't want to fight the crowd at County Music Festival.

Apparently it’s terrible, food wise, so I canceled my plan to go. There’s a thread on the food board.

If the food board said it is bad food then it has to be.

Personally rather boucherie festival, but the jambalayas aren't inedible like that thread made them out to be.

Well I meant it’s not one of those fests where you get to try everyone’s. They box it all up and you get a random box that may or may not be good. That’s lame as hell :(

I want to try 20 jams, not 1 :(

Yeah, it is well organized and more about the culture and the cooking than the crowd doing the tasting.

You gotta go with the right last name. Then you get all the behind the scenes tastings.

Or bring some seasoning in your pockets and trade them off.

It's a fair that happens to have a jambalaya cook off associated with it... The event isn't built around tasting jambalaya cooked different ways

Cooks aren't even allowed to serve patrons at the gate per the rules, but they don't necessarily enforce that so you may find some cooks willing to give stranger some samples. Prepared to be underwhelmed, it's chicken and rice and if you go on Sunday for the semis/finals they'll all taste the same

I’ll go, but the fest is pretty lame if you’re not cooking and aren’t from there. Since I grew up there, I get to see a lot of old friends. Outside of that, it’s bad bone-in Chicken Jambalaya, mediocre carney rides, and tired cover bands.
