Also, just said on the news, that when suing a city the cap for damages is 500k.
When suing NOLA I think there’s no limit but there’s also no mechanism to make the city actually pay. So I’m not sure uncapped is really that much better.

They stated that it was a Mississippi law when suing a municipality.

this may be the most ignorant post I’ve seen on the OT this week, which says a lot

I wasn’t referring to race in the slightest. I was referring to the same tired old backwards arse thinking that infects towns just like Jackson, BR, Mobile, etc... they can’t get their heads out of neutral, reject anything and everything that they aren’t very familiar with, and scoff at the idea of change. That’s why they never will change, and until you have a cultural enema that gets that out of your system, it’s going to be more of the same without end.
That’s what I was referring to. Call it what you like. The song remains the same with these people regardless if they’re white or black. They’re exactly the same mindset.

BR would be a perfectly fine place to live without NBR.
Redneck plant baws are taxpayers, unlikely to have a criminal records and otherwise functional members of society. They ain't the problem.

Mazda convertible. Low built. Top down. Wheel somehow got stuck. Car flipped. A block from my house. Just awful. People called all morning on that manhole. Police came out, did nothing. Should've blocked it and called public works. Too much trouble for it.

It’s not what they do as much as how many to most of them behave, and as time goes on it’s hard for me to see the difference in them and the problem. It’s just a trashy mentality all around. I’ve seen as much litter come out of the back of the plant baw’s trucks as I have from hoopties, maybe even more so Neither could really give a rat’s arse about the condition of this state. That’s why I say it’s less about skin as it is in their attitudes. Neither do I identify with, and yet both have taken up residence in this city to such a level that it’s simply made it worse for wear. This isn’t all of this country. Far from it, but it most certainly is concentrated right here In this region of the country.

Litter is definitely a problem but far from our biggest one. Crime, decent public schools and so many people on various forms of government handouts are the biggest issues.
There aren't even really many rednecks left in BR. They mostly left for the suburbs 20 years ago.

It’s all one big package of don’t give a shite.
Hell, the very same guard rails that were missing when I was driving in the late 70’s early 80’s are still missing, and I bet if we carbon dated the grime on those guard rails it would date back to its original construction as I can’t remember one single time they were cleaned. That just serves as a giant warning sign to anyone traveling through this place to keep driving, especially if they’re from someplace nice.

We'd have more money to fix shite if so many people weren't on the government dole. I think that we need to implement work requirements for food stamps, Medicaid, Section 8 and welfare.
Taxpayers having to take care of you should be uncomfortable.

I agree, and there really is no excuse for any of this IMO.
Posted on 5/19/18 at 5:51 pm to Mike da Tigah
I also agree the city of Jackson dropped the ball.
I seen BRPD unit sit infront of a manhole cover that was stolen by a restless native waiting for DPW to barricade the manhole cover.

Sounds like Ole Miss lost a real winner.
Must have been one hell of an overcorrection.

The road was recently repaved so add Superior Asphalt to the list of defendants.
The contractor who initially resurfaced that section of roadway, Superior Asphalt, performed additional work after Thursday's wreck damaged the manhole, but failed to put any cones around the freshly packed asphalt.
Lumumba had his security team do it instead.
While it's still unclear whether the city or Superior Asphalt is at fault for causing that manhole cover to become a deadly hazard, Curtis says the city should have at least looked into the problem when he called.
Superior Asphalt spokesperson Kenny Bush said that they finished work on that section of Ridgewood Road months ago, but had to raise the manholes to the same height as the roadway, and finished that Friday

The cast iron ring around cover broke, causing the cover to move.
