Well, to be fair, if you live within the 240 loop, you live north of 385 by default. There are areas within the 240 that are definitely non-starters, but Memphis is hit or miss throughout town. You can go from legit upper class neighborhoods to sketch in a block and a half.

I am not a hater on the suburbs, though I could write a book on the white flight epidemic and how it hit Memphis hard in particular. There are nice suburbs (haven't had much experience with the MS ones, though), obviously, but the best neighborhoods in the 901 are within the 240 loop. Some really good public schools throughout the county, honestly.
