Landslide Meyers came through on the one. Could have been MUCH worse.

While the court’s sentence was certainly within the statutory range, we feel that based on the facts and circumstances developed at trial, a longer period of incarceration was warranted. The defendant has shown no remorse for his actions. His comments in the Pre-Sentence Investigation were simply that he acted in self-defense. He has not expressed any level of remorse or apologized to the victim’s family. While on bond, he exhibited a lack of respect for the judicial system by testing positive for marijuana, leaving the jurisdiction without judicial authorization and absconding for a period of time. Judges face difficult decisions, particularly when setting bonds and imposing sentence. We respectfully disagree with this Honorable Court’s decision to sentence Jace Boyd to only 18 months of incarceration.
The irony of this statement is lost on them.

Serving a single day for killing a hobo is too much, we should have a program for them akin to the nutria program.

Hey! My grandad was a hobo after he was orphaned age 13 (flu epidemic killed his mom, heart his dad). He was NOT a panhandler though. He worked fields and farms and loading trucks and store stockroom stuff. But he did hop trains and live in the woods cooking over campfires too. He was a honest hobo, not some shady thug.
P.S.
It was grandad's Uncle in OK that was the origin of all the monthly disability checks from the government. The Uncle and his wife were blind but ran a ranch that grandad would work at from time time and Uncle got elected to the state legislature where he sponsored, and babysat all the way to the governor's desk, the legislation for the 1st ever disability payments in the nation. (Something like $5/month during the depression paid to, coincidentally, the blind.)

18 months for murder is wild.

My family had similar circumstances during the Depression. That being said 99% of modern day hobos are just drug/alcohol addicts. No sympathy for those types, and this guy sounds like he was one of em

That bum was a loud and obnoxious threat- had to scream him away several times. FAFO...BTW Trader Joes or center owner should have had him trespassed LONG before this.

I wouldn't have either. Obviously his family didn't care about him. There's no way I hell I would let my dad, brother, cousin, nephew, become a homeless beggar. What would be the point in apologizing to them? They were enablers.

Don't live places where everyone hates you.

A good reminder never to intervene. People - especially emotional women - will turn on you in a moment’s notice. Let em learn the hard way.

Only an idiot intervenes anymore. If I'm not directly in fear of my life or severe bodily injury, zero chance I pull. Sorry, but the risks are just too damn high in today's day and age.

That's kind of how it's supposed to work.
