You would let a pit bull latch onto your arm or leg instead of shooting it?

I doubt it.

If the cops really thought they saw the perp in the house, them there's nothing to see here.

did the cop get bit?

No. He shot a pet defending a yard from an intruder.

If they saw the guy inside then why wasn't the perp arrested?

Maybe because "they saw the guy" after the dumbass cop shot the dog.

A pit bull doesn't mature until age 2. This is a fact. Of course this isn't a pit bull. its half lab.

but this is more about property rights
So if fleeing suspects entered your property/home, what would you want the cops chasing them to do? Wait, try to call you and see if it's ok to come in your house where the suspect is?

This all sounds like a possibly unavoidable accident, just bad luck. Can't know for sure, we weren't there, but it's hard to blame the officer for being where he was, and if the dog was legimitately attacking him to a point that he couldn't defend himself, i'm not sure you can blame the cop here.

Well...did they actually get the guy they were chasing to warrant running into these people's backyard? Did he get away? Was he never there and they thought they saw him and went into a backyard that had nothing to do with what they were doing and shot this dog?

Pretty shitty writing to leave that detail out.
No kidding, these are very important details to iron out.

Okay, Darth you have already in this thread both established your hatred of the breed and played the victim card. You may not want to continue or you'll be complaining about people attacking you all the time on here again.

We get it you don't like pits.
Hell I had them before and wouldn't want one around my step kids.
But there is such a thing as :beatdeadhorse:

Where is this "perp" that was in the house?
Hmmmm

Did the dog attack?
Or did it threaten to attack?
Even still aren't dogs supposed to attack intruders that come into it's territory?

Actually I was just throwing that out there to cum the water.

Unlike others on here who call for them to all be shot, I'm actually ambivalent towards them. They're not really an issue in my neighborhood. I don't think they should be around kids though.

This is one thing I wonder about his story. Why did the dog allegedly attack the cop and not the perp?

Why is there no mention of the perp?

I looked up this article and even in other links there is no mention.

The "perp in the house" line just doesn't seem to pass muster. If they definitely saw him in the house and only approached via the back yard, they really suck at not only dealing with dogs but at the concept of keeping a perp IN a location they'd like to catch him in.

I'll bet there was no suspect, and cops were bored and wanted to KILL something. the arrest and likely abuse was just a bonus.

Probably friends with the dog owners, and that's why the perp was at their house in the first place.

If the perp was in the house, then why not mention of he was arrested too?

I feel less sorry for the dog owners if they were harboring a fugative.
