TBR DGAF. They are paid professional terrorists that will claim all the projects going to Texas as a victory. They are residents and have zero invested in this community or its future.
Btw, let’s not lose sight of the blame for all of this being laid at the feet of Governor Honor Code. One of his first acts was to throw control over ITEP, the one legitimate incentive LED had to attract projects to Louisiana, down to the locals. So where you have short-sighted racists running local politics (EBR and Orleans) ITEP got royally mucked up. Remember this when we have a chance to vote Mr. Trial Lawyer Tax and Tax out this year.

It’s a Tax DEFERMENT! So instead of not collecting taxes for some brief period of time, they get bagel. Real geniuses.

Makes no sense to me that the EBR school board is voting on taxes involving our biggest and most important tax payer.

Nah, it does make sense. This is the way it should work, it was just a short sighted decision.
The local government should decide if their specific millage should be exempt or not. That's reasonable. The sheriff and Metro Council will vote on their specific tax millage for ExxonMobil too.
If the local government wants to be dumb, let them.

Work? Yes
Secretly? No

The stupidity of this group is beyond frustrating. What exactly is the long term plan here? How can a group involved in these decisions not understand how this can play out? It's like they are purposely sabotaging Baton Rouge

It should have always been the case. Local governments should decide these matters, even if they choose poorly.

They get the short term win
They sell the shite out of the little man winning one over big industry
Voters are too stupid to know better and re-elect
By the time the fallout hit, the elected officials have taken the municipality for all they can. They don't care about the effects by then because THEY GOT THEIRS

That was the single stupidest things they could have possibly done.
Why on earth would you piss off the much of an economy base for Baton Rouge?

Teacher said they are on life support?
I'm guessing they want in on the corruption too. They receive almost 10K per student, teachers are paid peanuts and tell me where the money is going? It's not going to the crumbling schools.

This is my favorite part. That teacher in the article doesn't have a goddamn clue where all of the school appropriations are actually going.
She doesn't make shite, and her students are probably underfunded, I'm not denying those two things, but she's completely ignorant as to the reasons.

I would prefer the school board not have a vote on tax policies anyway. Isn’t hat what politicians are for?

Y'all's boy John Bell made this happen by changing the rules giving the local yokels a say in the ITEP approval process.
