Italy death toll rose by 475 yesterday

Deaths in Italy up 475 to 2,978
Emergency Commissioner and Civil Protection Chief Angelo Borrelli said Wednesday that 2,978 people have died with the coronavirus in Italy, 475 more than Tuesday. The rise on Tuesday was 345.
He said that 4,025 people in Italy have recovered from COVID-19, 1,084 more than Tuesday. Tuesday's daily rise was 192. He said 28,710 people are currently infected with the coronavirus in Italy, 2,648 more than Tuesday.

Actually it seems reasonable to expect a 2 week lag for the deaths. There is a 2-14 day incubation period and then it takes up to 2 weeks to die once symptoms start. So if the lockdown actually works, we should hopefully see deaths plateau at this level before going down in a week or so.

I seem to recall that Italy also declared they would be turning away elderly patients with COVID as well - death panels doing work!

I want to see a website with stats on the curve. It seems I recall seeing something that the 475 deaths in Italy were actually a "down tic" compared to prior days stats.

Italy had 345 deaths in yesterday’s release. So up 130 over the previous 24 hour total.

It's called triage. They haven't had to do it yet, but there is a protocol in place if it comes to that. Everyone else is going to have one too because it's the most effective thing you can do in a situation of limited resources and overwhelming need.
