I don't always agree with TH03, but when I do, it means he's actually right this time.

What good is this expert hearing if it causes you to hear yanny when the speaker is obviously saying laurel?

Whether you heard one or the other is irrelevant - the speaker was clearly trying to say laurel. People who hear yanny and other words that aren't being said will hopefully be removed by natural selection.

It's the speakers you listen to it on.

I heard yanni clear as day when listening on my computers speakers. Plugged in my headphones and it was clearly laurel.

It’s not just the speakers you listen to it on and it’s not just a different recording of “yanny” out there. It is the way your brain is processing the sensory information.

First listen for me was on speakers in my office with two others. They both heard laurel, I heard yanny. They thought I was crazy. Upon repeated attempts I could not hear laurel, as much as I tried. Listened again at home on my phone still hearing yanny. I watched the “scientific” audio break down video and got to where I heard laurel. I went back to the original clip I listened to and heard laurel repeatedly and could no longer hear yanny. This morning listened again and got yanny.

Same thing with the dress....saw it both ways, and couldn’t flip back and forth consciously.

Correct. It is also a recording of the word Yanny.

They are recorded on top of each other.

Ive always wondered about colors. As long as we agree on the name of a color, who knows how you and I actually see red or green or blue.

I heard Laurel all day yesterday and then the wife played it out of the blue last night and I heard yanny and immediately assumed that was a different video. So I went back to the video I was listening to and played it again and it was yanny. I started freaking out. Then I put my head phones in and played it, and I got laurel.

This is what people that don't hear things correctly tell themselves to feel better about their disability.

ETA: Downvote from disabled person.

Yep.
