Was he heading in that direction and saw the trooper and decided to kill him before going to his next victims?
Maybe he saw the trooper heading in there before parking and then taking advantage of the situation?
The way it sounds from Mire's own explanation is he thought Gaubert was "watching the house" and on the lookout for him after the incident in French Settlement.
But Gaubert was actually doing paperwork, clueless to Mire's presence in the area.
This is just awful.
Adam was a legit GOOD man. Not a cell of the stereotypical "power trip" or "a-hole" cop in his body. He was that goofy kid that everyone got along with in Village St George and then Oak Hills growing up. He skated and played sandlot ball with us degens all day long, but he'd 'have to go home' when our dumb asses would decide to do hoodrat shite like steal beer and cigs from Circle K.
God dammit. Adam was ALWAYS a good dude. shite ain't frickin fair.

That's a good watch, pretty much sums it all up. That Trooper spokesman is truly torn up. You could see it the other night, too.

Agree. I got the pleasure of meeting him about a decade ago. He was exactly as you described him. Really good dude.

I have family that lives near Trooper Gaubert's parents and they said that a state trooper has been parked in front of their house on security detail 24 hours a day since Saturday evening. Is this standard procedure for incidents like this? Or could they be under protection for some reason?

Wouldn't be surprised for some media member to try and approach them for a comment.

Yeah light this guy on fire and make him suffer as soon as he’s found guilty .
Do it the way the Apaches did. Hang him upside down over a small fire and slowly cook his brain.

Standard procedure.
The department just making sure the family has any assistance they need.

It's my understanding they use a trunked system that is not accessible by scanner.
Inaccurate. Ive been monitoring trunked systems since the 90s. Ive moved on to the more advanced digital receiving scanner radio. The only thing one cant monitor is encrypted radio. Not sure if our state police uses encryption, I do know it's not used on their complete system.
